It uses the standard AmericanAcademy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery formula, which foreach ear is [(avg dB at 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz)-25] X 1.5;bianural hearing handicap is based on a fivefold weight to thebetter hearing ear. This formula is used in most states forDisability Determination and is also useful when legal issues areinvolved. A neuro-otologist developed this app and uses it almostevery day in his busy private practice.
